Giuseppe Biamonti

Giuseppe Biamonti received his PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology (1986) at the University of Pavia studying DNA Replication in human cells.
CNR Researcher since 1985. He is currently CNR Research Director at the Institute of Molecular Genetics – Luigi Luca Cavalli-Sforza (IGM) – CNR in Pavia. From 2007 to 2019 he was director of the same Institute From June 2019 to May 2020 Acting Director of the Institute for Biomedical Research and Innovation (IRIB) of the CNR based in Palermo.
His research activities focus on fundamental aspect of human cell biology including DNA replication, post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression and the cell response to stress conditions.
Member of the Network of Excellence (FP6) on alternative splicing (EURASNET). Since 2017 he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Monasterio Foundation – Pisa.
