Maria Pia Abbracchio

Maria Pia Abbracchio has a Master degree in Pharmacy, a specialization degree in Toxicology and a PhD in Experimental Medicine.

During her research carrier, she has worked at the Medical School of the University of Texas at Houston, and at University College London.

She is full Professor of pharmacology at the University of Milan, where she is currently serving as Vice Chanchellor and vice Rector for Research & Innovation. She is President of Gruppo 2003 per la ricerca scientifica that gathers the most cited Italian scientists in the world.

She has received several Prizes and scientific honors, and in 2013 President Napolitano named her Commander of the Highest Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. Her main research interest is in the field of regenerative therapies for neuropsychiatric diseases.
